The World Snooker Shanghai Masters is an official ranking tournament on the World Snooker Tour and represents the highest level of world snooker. It is one of the most influential international sports events in China and a prominent international event in Shanghai.

Organised by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), the Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association, Shanghai Sports Federation and Xuhui district people's government, the tournament has been held in Shanghai 13 times since 2007. It has witnessed the triumphs of many world-famous players and created countless memorable moments.

Since 2018, the Shanghai Masters has become an invitational event with more generous prize money, higher quality matches and stronger rivalries.
