Shanghai played host on Sept 9 to the prestigious Meet TR35 Summit 2024 and the MIT Technology Review 35 Innovators Under 35 Asia Pacific Award Ceremony – held in the city's Zhangjiang Science Hall.

With its theme Atlas Pulse, the summit – part of the 17th Pujiang Innovation Forum 2024 – attracted young innovators from multiple countries.

The young folks came from such places as China, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia and South Korea, to witness the unveiling of the rising stars of technology – and to explore the possibility of cross-regional cooperation in the future.

Besides the younger generation candidates, nearly 50 distinguished guests with outstanding achievements and influence in the fields of science and technology attended the events.

They included Zhu Meifang, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Donghua University and Seeram Ramakrishna, a professor at the National University of Singapore.

In addition, nearly 200 scientists, elite members of industry, innovation leaders and representatives from venture capital institutions from emerging technology fields around the world were also present.

During opening remarks, Mat Honan, the editor-in-chief of the prestigious MIT Technology Review, highlighted the irreplaceability of young talent as the core driving force of technological innovation and praised the rapid rise of young Chinese innovators globally.

Adhering to the concept of Discovery, Enlightenment and Leadership, the summit was committed to further promoting diversity among the selected innovators – participating in driving technological innovation and recognizing the contributions of young scientists.

The Pujiang Innovation Forum ends on Sept 10.
