The XR section of the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival will commence on June 14 at the Huayi Brothers Cinema in Shanghai Changfeng Joy City, offering a three-day in-person viewing experience.

Audiences will have the opportunity to explore films that utilize cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality, providing a unique experience distinct from traditional cinema.

This section features 16 exceptional works from both domestic and foreign creators, including several world and Asian premieres. Audiences are invited to delve into the dreamlike realms of characters such as Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei in Mnemosyne. They can also embark on a virtual journey to capture the natural beauty of Qinghai province's Guoluo Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Golog Unbounded, or find emotional resonance as observers in works like Nana Lou and Jack & Flo.

Reservation guide

1. Booking via Damai platform

Starting June 10, you can book SIFF XR sessions on the Damai platform. A single session lasts 90 or 180 minutes. After booking, present your Damai QR code at the onsite reservation desk to receive a session reservation card, allowing you to choose two films.

Note:

• Viewing films onsite follows a first-come, first-served basis. Audience will be seated for the reserved films by staff until seats are filled.
• After viewing, you can return to the reservation desk with your verification slip to exchange it for an exclusive SIFF XR ticket stub.

2. Exchange at Changfeng Joy City

Starting from 2 pm on June 14, present a receipt showing a purchase of 100 yuan ($13.91) or more from Changfeng Joy City to receive a reservation card at the onsite desk (valid for the current or next session).

3. Exchange with SIFF ticket stub or guest pass

Starting from 2 pm on June 14, present your SIFF ticket stub or guest pass at the onsite desk to receive a reservation card at the onsite desk (valid for the current or next session).
