The 30th Shanghai TV Festival kicked off on June 23 with a city-wide offline screening project known as the Magnolia Showcase.

Lasting for five days, the event brings 29 entries competing for the Magnolia Awards to audiences across 19 venues in all 16 districts of Shanghai.

Inspired by the Shanghai International Film Festival, the screenings are grouped into eight themed sections based on the content, including The Diversity of Life, A Kaleidoscope of Things, The Joy of Childhood and Chinese Animation Classics.

Screening venues include Shanghai Library East, Jiading district library, the China Art Museum (Shanghai), Huangpu Cultural Center, Changning Cultural and Art Center, and Duoyun Bookstore at Fengjing town, Jinshan district.

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of British author Jane Austen's birth, the festival is presenting three BBC-produced adaptations of her works, including the classic versions of Pride and Prejudice and Emma, as well as the single-episode drama Miss Austen Regrets.

In addition to offline screenings, local television channels are airing outstanding international productions, previous Magnolia Awards winners, and some of the finest recent domestic and international TV works submitted for this year's competition, featuring over 20 high-quality international and domestic programs.

The Magnolia Showcase also includes six featured productions from member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
