Over 30 artworks by Chinese and Italian artists are on display at the 2024 China-Italy Cultural Exchange Exhibition in Zhaoxiang town, Qingpu district.

The exhibition celebrates the 20th anniversary of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership and the 25th anniversary of Shanghai and Milan's friendship city relationship.

At the opening ceremony, Italian artists Laura Barbarini and Francesco Roviello expressed their gratitude to those contributing to the cultural exchange between the two nations. They emphasized that the exhibition provides an opportunity for the artists from Italy and China to present their works.

Wang Weixing, director of the cultural, sports and tourism center of Zhaoxiang town, said that the town is known as the "origin of Shanghai", which can be traced back to the 6,000-year-old Songze culture.

Wang said that the exhibition provides an opportunity for the traditional Songze culture to engage and collide with world cultures.

The exhibition runs until Jan 17. During this period, some participating artists will visit Hemu Water Street, Songze Site Museum, and Songze Old Street for plein-air painting.
