A total of 433 artworks by 101 illustrators from around the world are currently on display at the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition China Tour at the Duoyunxuan Art Centre in Shanghai.

The exhibition serves as a showcase for the latest trends in illustration and works by the talented artists from the past 10 years of the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy.

The China tour exhibition ticket grants access to three shows, showcasing 395 winning artworks chosen for the 57th Bologna Illustrators Exhibition in 2023. The cover illustration for this collection was crafted by South Korean illustrator Suzy Lee, the 2022 recipient of the International Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration. The exhibition also features works by Mexican Azul (formerly Andrés) López, the 2022 winner of the International Award of Illustration BCBF- Fundación SM.

This year's exhibition sets a record for the highest number of participants and artworks in its history, with 4,345 illustrators from 91 countries and regions submitting a total of 21,725 works. The judging panel, comprising five internationally acclaimed figures from the publishing industry, education sector, and professional art field, had selected the most outstanding illustrators after three rounds of evaluation. Notably, 15 Chinese illustrators made it to the final winners' list.

The exhibition also honors past participants by showcasing their creations themed Landscapes and Portraits of BCBF in celebration of the fair's 60th edition.

Cai Gao, a prominent figure in Chinese original picture books, penned the preface for the Shanghai exhibition, focusing on the theme of Letting Go of Naivety.
