Rare dinosaur specimens to be shown at Shanghai Natural History Museum
The exhibition China's Dinosaur World will open to the public at the Shanghai Natural History Museum on May 31, featuring 118 dinosaur specimens and important models.
China is renowned for having the highest diversity of dinosaur species discovered globally. Of the over 1,000 dinosaur species identified worldwide, more than 350 were found in China.
Among the exhibits, 80 are nationally protected Class I paleontological fossils and 13 have been featured in international academic journals Science and Nature.

The Anchiornis huxleyi from the Natural History Museum of China is one of the earliest known feathered dinosaur fossils.
The Ambopteryx longibrachium, from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is a unique membrane-winged flying dinosaur from China, possessing wings similar to those of pterosaurs and bats.
The Sinosaurus triassicus, from Lufeng's natural resources bureau in Yunnan province, was confirmed as a distinct species within the Sinosaurus genus when a complete skull specimen was discovered in Lufeng in 2023.

The exhibition is located in the B1 temporary exhibition hall of the Shanghai Natural History Museum.
