To mark the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema, Xuhui district is hosting the exhibition 120 Years • 120 Frames: Shanghai Cinema and Hengfu Urban Harmonies until Oct 12. This exhibition highlights the intersection of Shanghai's film history and urban cultural history, focusing on the Hengfu Historic and Cultural Area, which has played a crucial role in shaping the city's cultural landscapes and fashion trends.

The exhibition employs advanced AI and VR technologies to recreate scenes from old films, using historical buildings such as the Wukang Building, Midget Apartments, and Willow Court as focal points.

The first-floor exhibition area is open to the public free of charge, offering insights into the historical context that led to the Hengfu area becoming a hub of modern Shanghai cinema. On the second floor, visitors can participate in a VR fantasy journey, which allows them to explore the Wukang Building as it was a century ago and experience the lifestyle of that era's film stars.

In addition to the exhibits, a cultural and creative market has been set up, featuring a variety of products that capture the essence of Haipai culture and the charm of old Shanghai. These items can be purchased after finishing the exhibition.
