Largest Musee d'Orsay exhibition in China extends run

The Paths to Modernity: Masterpieces from the Musee d'Orsay, Paris exhibition at the Museum of Art Pudong will extend its run until Oct 26.

The exhibition has attracted significant attention since its opening on June 19. Drawing visitors from across the globe, it has welcomed over 500,000 attendees, becoming a major cultural highlight in Pudong this summer.

Featuring more than 100 French masterpieces from the 1840s to the early 20th century, the exhibition spans nearly all major art movements in the Musee d'Orsay's collection. With works by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Paul Cezanne, it marks the largest exhibition the Musee d'Orsay has ever presented in China.

In addition, the museum's gift shop offers a wide range of cultural and creative products inspired by the artworks, blending visual storytelling with everyday aesthetics. These products have generated sales nearing 30 million yuan ($4.19 million), reflecting strong public engagement with the exhibition.

Starting Sept 6, the Museum of Art Pudong will partner with New Bund Red Lane to host themed markets over two weekends. Visitors can explore creative products, savor local cuisine, and enjoy cultural performances at New Bund Red Lane, adding an extra dimension to their visit.
