Shanghai to host international artwork trade week in November
The 7th Shanghai International Artwork Trade Week is set to take place from Nov 13 to 17.
This year's trade week will bring together art institutions from across China, Europe, the Americas, Southeast Asia, and beyond. Prominent art fairs such as Westbund Art & Design, ART021, and the Shanghai Young Art Fair will headline this week's program.
Notably, the 12th Westbund Art & Design will present its largest exhibition space to date, featuring renowned international galleries such as Hauser & Wirth, White Cube, Perrotin, and Ota Fine Arts, each marking its 10th consecutive year of participation. The 13th ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair will, for the first time, spotlight Southeast Asian galleries, creating new opportunities for cooperation and exchange under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Over 100 art events will unfold during the trade week, spanning art fairs, auctions of cultural relics and artworks, and exhibitions in galleries and museums:
- Xuhui's West Bund area will host an expanded art week, featuring a winter carnival that merges art, fashion, sports, and shopping.
- The Bund will present the Art on the Bund 2025 International Art Festival, with more than 60 exhibitions and events from over 30 art institutions. A rooftop art season will combine outdoor cinema and rooftop activities.
- West Nanjing Road and Suhe Bay commercial zones will collaborate to feature international artistic talents, including Italy's century-old ocarina ensemble GOB, global magic masters, and overseas bands, offering nearly 100 high-caliber art exhibitions and cultural performances.
- Pudong New Area will showcase exhibitions on Shanghai culture and international contemporary art at multiple venues, including the first exhibition in China by French multidisciplinary visual artist Jean Jullien. Activities in key commercial areas like Lujiazui and Taikoo Li Qiantan will create an integrated art consumption experience.
In addition, the trade week will collaborate with the 2025 Shanghai Art Season and the China Shanghai International Arts Festival to introduce several innovative projects:
- The 2025 Shanghai Art Season will feature major exhibitions, art education initiatives, urban art walks, and industry dialogues across the city's art museums.
- The China Shanghai International Arts Festival will showcase its innovative "ARTRA" art project during the trade week, blending stage and visual arts to create a new artistic language.
The trade week will also partner with Alipay to launch a themed activity page in the "沪小游" mini program (search by name in Alipay), offering participants the chance to win prizes and unlock benefits in surrounding business zones through electronic ticket stubs.
