Experience best of the Louvre in Shanghai
This December, the Museum of Art Pudong is set to captivate art enthusiasts with two blockbuster exhibitions featuring masterpieces from two of France's most prestigious institutions, the Louvre Museum and the Musee Picasso Paris.
The Wonders of Patterns: Masterpieces from India, Iran, and the Ottoman World
Launching on Dec 13, this exhibition marks the Louvre Museum's inaugural showcase in Shanghai. Featuring approximately 300 exquisite pieces from the Louvre's collection, it will be the largest exhibition ever presented by the Louvre in China.
Spanning the 16th to 19th centuries, the exhibition highlights the artistic achievements of India, Iran, and the Ottoman Empire, making it the Museum of Art Pudong's most geographically diverse exhibition to date.
Visitors will be mesmerized by the intricate and vibrant patterns that define the art from these regions, including natural floral motifs, poetic imagery, and geometric designs. These works not only reflect the cultural and historical narratives of their time but also continue to inspire contemporary art and design.
Picasso Through the Eyes of Paul Smith
From Dec 22, the Museum of Art Pudong will present another landmark exhibition in collaboration with the Musee Picasso Paris. Curated by renowned British designer Paul Smith, this exhibition will offer a fresh perspective on Pablo Picasso's oeuvre.
Featuring over 80 iconic works, the exhibition spans all major periods of Picasso's prolific career. Visitors can expect to see a diverse range of media, including oil paintings, pencil drawings, sculptures, watercolors, and ceramics, providing a comprehensive view of Picasso's artistic journey and legacy.
