An exhibition tracing the evolution of Shanghai's People's Square area over the past century is now on view at the Shanghai History Museum.

The show features a wealth of artifacts and archival images, charting the area's development from the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to the present and highlighting how Shanghai has grown into a vibrant, modern international metropolis for all its people.

The exhibition is divided into three sections. The first showcases historical maps, providing a clear visual narrative of the changing urban landscape of the People’s Square area over the past 100 years. The second highlights pioneering figures in culture and commerce, illustrating how progressive ideas spurred social change. The third focuses on everyday life, presenting recreated home interiors from different eras that reveal the evolution of Shanghai's distinctive lifestyle.
