Goldfish-themed immersive exhibition opens at Bund Finance Center
By combining classical Eastern aesthetics with digital lighting and projection technology, the exhibition creates a dreamlike waterscape in which fish appear to swim through light and visitors seem to walk through water, blurring the boundaries between the virtual and the real.
Goldfish have long held a distinctive place in Chinese aesthetics, with a history of breeding and appreciation spanning more than 1,000 years.
When: Aug 6 to Dec 31, 2029
Where: Bund Finance Center
The exhibition showcases more than 100 varieties and over 1,000 ornamental goldfish, including the four traditional Chinese goldfish types: grass, wen, dragon-eye, and egg goldfish.
To balance the display of live fish with their welfare, the exhibition has established a dedicated "Goldfish Care Center" staffed by a professional care team and equipped with a standardized husbandry system to provide round-the-clock care for more than 1,000 goldfish.
With both visual appeal and educational value, the exhibition is open to visitors of all ages.
In the future, the exhibition will also feature cultural salons, educational sessions on goldfish, and traditional Chinese-themed activities, further exploring the cultural significance of goldfish and setting a new standard for immersive exhibitions that showcase traditional Chinese aesthetics in Shanghai.
