Fuxing Island lights up as international photo exhibition opens
The 18th Shanghai International Photography Art Exhibition opened at Fuxing Island Shipyard Park on Oct 27, bringing together nearly 300 works from 23 countries and regions across nearly 6,000 square meters of the century-old industrial heritage site.
Recognized as one of China's most internationally influential photography events, the exhibition has been held in Yangpu for four consecutive editions since 2020. It runs through Nov 5, with touring exhibitions planned afterward.
Hall A explores global perspectives and photographic history, featuring works by 50 artists from 21 countries and regions. Their works reflect diverse cultural backgrounds and viewpoints.
Meanwhile, Hall C emphasizes youth creativity and new media experiments, incorporating dynamic imagery, audio narratives, drone formations, and AI-assisted creations by emerging photographers.
The open-call exhibition in Hall C shows 50 standout works selected from 15,000 photos and 70 multimedia submissions, offering a snapshot of contemporary life.
The exhibition also connects with local culture and the wider public.
The Yangpu Creative Camp documented everyday life across the district, while a joint exhibition brings together works from all 16 Shanghai districts, capturing the warmth and character of urban life.
On opening day, the Shanghai Photographers Association held professional exchanges with a visiting delegation from the Belarusian Photographers Association. Weekend academic lectures and copyright seminars are also part of the program.
