The Xinhua Bookstore branch, a new urban reading space in Shanghai, was designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, who is known for his use of light and shadows.

It is one of the few bookstores in China that coexists with art museums, with the overall space connected to the Pearl Art Museum, forming a unique egg-shaped structure, which is a comprehensive cultural and artistic space with reading at its soul. As light illuminates the structures, reading brightens people's minds.
