Shanghai's first 24-hour park library opened in Peace Park in Hongkou district on April 23, which is also World Book Day.

Located in the park's lush green environment, the Peace Library is another step forward in the city's efforts to present a new public cultural space that combines reading and relaxation.

It comprises four themed sections for different age groups and readers' appetites. With a themed book section, an art center, and a reading space boasting a total area of nearly 10,000 square meters currently open to the public, an ecological reading section will be unveiled later this year.

"We hope the library will become a light for this 24-hour park, to provide our visitors with an enjoyable day break and a meditation space to relax at night," said Han Yao, librarian of the Hongkou District Library.
