Notice on Strengthening Security Checks for Public Transportation during the 7th CIIE

english.shanghai.gov.cn

To maintain public safety during the 7th CIIE, the following measures have been implemented for security checks on passengers and their belongings using public transportation during the event:

1. Public transportation operators must strictly implement security check measures for passengers and their belongings. In addition to regular security checks, random inspections should be increased. Suspicious individuals and items must be thoroughly questioned and inspected to prevent those carrying flammable, explosive, toxic, radioactive and corrosive materials – as well as firearms, ammunition, or restricted items – that may endanger personal and property safety from using public transportation.

2. Citizens using public transportation such as metro, buses, long-distance coaches, and ferries shall be subject to security checks and actively contribute to public safety. If someone notices other individuals carrying dangerous items on public transportation, he or she should discourage them. If discouragement is ineffective, he or she should immediately report it to a public transportation operator or the police.

3. Public transportation staff who identify passengers carrying dangerous items or turning down security checks must deny them boarding. If they encounter a passenger insisting on carrying dangerous items, they should promptly report this to the police.

4. Those who violate the stipulation of this notice, such as carrying dangerous items on public transportation or disrupting public order by refusing to conduct security checks, will be penalized by the police according to the Public Security Administration Punishment Law. Those involved in criminal offenses will be prosecuted according to the law.

This notice is effective from Oct 25, 2024, until Nov 12, 2024.
