The Shanghai Intellectual Property Joint Conference Office recently issued a notice stating that it will initiate a 100-day action plan for intellectual property (IP) protection across the city from Aug 1 to Nov 10 in preparation for the seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will be held from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai.

This plan aims to improve IP protection services, support the seventh CIIE and high-level opening-up, and spur the development of a market-oriented, law-based, and world-class business environment in Shanghai. It focuses on three main areas.

Firstly, it aims to create a first-class IP protection environment. Shanghai will continue to strengthen its judicial services for IP protection, enhance legal supervision of IP, intensify efforts to combat IP crimes, and deepen IP enforcement and regulation. By strengthening collaborative protection in the Yangtze River Delta region, it will intensify efforts to crack down on serious IP infringement.

Secondly, it aims to provide first-class IP protection services. Shanghai will offer on-site services at the CIIE venue, leverage the roles of various IP service agencies, and arrange for volunteer teams to provide IP protection and related consulting services. It will introduce IP mediation organizations and arbitration institutions, facilitate channels for complaints and reports, and establish priority channels for quick processing and timely feedback.

Lastly, it aims to foster a first-class IP protection atmosphere. Shanghai will utilize both traditional and emerging media to conduct multichannel, comprehensive IP protection publicity for the CIIE, and distribute IP-themed promotional products to spread awareness of its IP development and protection and latest IP policies.
