City walks follow the TV series Blossoms Shanghai

With the popularity of the TV series Blossoms Shanghai, key scenes in the show have become the hottest tourist attractions in Shanghai recently.

Here are some city walks derived from the TV series that are worth exploring:

The major city walking route:

Huanghe Road ➝ West Nanjing Road ➝ East Nanjing Road ➝ East Zhongshan Road Number One

The narrator in the TV series Blossoms Shanghai points out: "In 1993, the 755-meter-long Huanghe Road had over 100 restaurants, attracting countless wealthy people to consume every night."

Starting from Huanghe Road and crossing Nanjing Road to the Bund, you'll pass by many scenic spots seen in the series.

Tai Sheng Yuan Restaurant

This is a Shanghai cuisine restaurant that opened in 1993 and is also recognized as the prototype of Zhi Zhen Yuan restaurant in the TV series.

Open: Daily, 10 am to 2 pm, 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Wing On Department Store

The prototype of Hu Lian Department Store in the TV series was Hua Lian Department Store between 1988 to 2006. It later changed its name to Wing On Department Store and was one of the four major department stores in Shanghai before its liberation.

Fairmont Peace Hotel

A major scene in the TV series is where the protagonist A Bao, played by actor Hu Ge, lives. The hotel first opened its doors on Aug 1, 1929, and was originally named the Cathay Hotel by its owner, Sir Victor Sassoon, a businessman and hotelier from the Sassoon banking family, a famous and prosperous British-Iraqi Jewish family in Shanghai in the 1920s and 30s. The Sassoon family once owned many assets including HSBC.

No 27 The Bund

As one of the important buildings in the Bund architectural complex and a key cultural relic protection unit in China, the building used to be Jardine Matheson and later served as an office building for the Shanghai Foreign Trade Bureau for many years. In the TV series, the location is called the Foreign Trade Building. The current property belongs to Shanghai Jiushi Group Co Ltd, which launched the Jiushi Art Museum on the 6th floor, in 2018. The building is now the House of Roosevelt.

Jinxian Road

Jinxian Road is the location of the major character Lingzi's restaurant - Night Tokyo, which used to be a bustling food street, including time-honored Shanghai cuisine restaurants Haijinzi, Lanxin, and Maolong.

Today on this long road, there is not only a bustling atmosphere but also fashionable shops. 

Shanghai Film Shooting Base

To find the original scenery in the TV series, one must also go to Shanghai Film Shooting Base. This popular scenic spot is one of the earliest major film and television shooting bases in China. In 2020, the base restored Jinxian Road and Huanghe Road to accommodate the crew of Blossoms Shanghai.
