Discover Shanghai's winter landscape: Nine themed routes for a cozy getaway (I)

Part two continues with five more routes exploring Jinshan, Songjiang, Qingpu, Fengxian, and Chongming districts.

Route 5: Folk art, LEGO fun, and coastal views in Jinshan district

Day 1: Chinese Farmer Painting Village → Fengjing Ancient Town → Legoland Shanghai Resort

Day 2: Jinshan City Beach → Jinshanzui Fishing Village

This Jinshan route blends folk art, ancient water-town culture, an international theme park, and coastal scenery. At the Chinese Farmer Painting Village, visitors can admire and experience the bold, colorful Jinshan farmers' paintings, a nationally renowned form of rural art.

Nearby Fengjing Ancient Town, a national 4A scenic area, features stone bridges, riverside houses, and time-honored snacks such as Fengjing pork hock and yellow rice wine, all adorned with lantern-lit New Year decorations.

The Legoland Shanghai Resort adds an extra layer of color to winter, with themed lands, rides, and shows tailored to families with children aged 2-12.

On the second day, travelers can head to Jinshan City Beach for a stroll along the 1.5-kilometer coastal promenade, followed by a visit to Jinshanzui Fishing Village, Shanghai's last traditional fishing village. Once there, guests can enjoy fresh seafood and explore maritime folk customs and museums.

Route 6: 'Taste of the New Year' in Songjiang district

Itinerary: The Global Floraland → Yexie intangible cultural heritage experience center → Zhangze lamb street → Jinglingqiao village → Shanghai 88 Mu Tian B&B → Guangyin Huayu B&B

Centered on New Year flavors and folk customs, this route offers a one-stop countryside New Year experience. The trip begins at The Global Floraland, where auspicious New Year flowers, including moth orchids, red anthurium, and silver willow, fill a bustling flower market.

At the Yexie intangible cultural heritage experience center, visitors can learn to make traditional Songjiang soft rice cakes and explore crafts such as bamboo weaving and textile techniques.

Lunch awaits the hungry visitor on Zhangze lamb street, famous for its winter lamb dishes and local yellow wine. In Jinglingqiao village, popular courtyards are decorated for the season and host activities such as writing Spring Festival couplets and paper-cutting.

At Shanghai 88 Mu Tian B&B, guests can craft hand-made gift boxes of award-winning Yexie soft cakes before ending the day at the premium countryside B&B Guangyin Huayu, where tea around a clay stove and a peaceful night in the fields complete a ritual-filled rural New Year.

Route 7: Shopping, snow play, and ancient villages in Qingpu district

Itinerary: Bailian Outlet Plaza → Hemu Shuijie commercial zone → Shanghai Ganso Dream World → Qinglong Temple → flower field fun → night tour of Zhangyan Ancient Town → stay at Shanghai Jinzhang Yayan Hotel

This route combines outlet shopping, water-town leisure, parent–child snow fun, and cultural heritage. Travelers can begin with purchasing New Year clothes and gifts at Bailian Outlet Plaza, then head to Hemu Shuijie commercial zone, where cafes, restaurants, homestays, and teahouses line both sides of the river, and courtyard businesses thrive in stylish rural spaces.

At Shanghai Ganso Dream World, children can enjoy a four-season indoor snow and play area, plus New Year-themed activities such as DIY cake making, lion dances, and folk markets. A visit to Qinglong Temple and the nearby ancient Qinglong Pagoda offers a chance for New Year blessings in a 1,000-year-old Buddhist setting.

The journey continues with countryside sightseeing, strawberry picking, and farm experiences, and ends in Zhangyan Ancient Town, where restored bridges, temples, and old streets — along with a stay at Jinzhang Yayan — reveal the charm of a millennium-old Jiangnan village at night.

Route 8: Wellness and slow life in Fengxian district

Day 1: Zhuanghang Old Street → Dingfeng Sauce Garden → Fengxian Museum

Day 2: Zhuanghang Countryside Park

This route in Fengxian focuses on health, culture, and seasonal flavors. On Zhuanghang Old Street, visitors can wander along a 1.2-km ancient stone-paved street, admire lanterns, dragon dances, and folk performances, and taste traditional snacks during the Lantern Festival period.

At Dingfeng Sauce Garden, a time-honored brand whose fermented bean curd technique is recognized as city-level intangible cultural heritage, the old factory site has been transformed into a creative block blending food and cultural innovation.

Nearby, the Fengxian Museum, whose architecture resembles "pearls rolling on a jade plate", offers exhibitions on sea-dike culture and New Year-themed activities.

On the second day, Zhuanghang Countryside Park and its large sports complex offer basketball, tennis, football, and other facilities, as well as trails through riverside forests. Visitors can also enjoy countryside homestays and local lamb dishes at long-established restaurants, making this an ideal route for those seeking both activity and nourishment.

Route 9: Nature, flowers, and traditions in Chongming district

Itinerary: Changxing Island Country Park → Yingdong Ecological Village → Singland →Yuanyi Garden → Donghe Jiugu Happy Farm

This route is designed as a warm winter journey that blends outdoor healing, flowers, and New Year customs.

At Changxing Island Country Park, visitors can enjoy the fresh air while walking or participating in New Year fitness events. Yingdong Ecological Village offers classic Chongming New Year flavors, from pounding rice cakes and brewing rice wine to savoring a fisherman's feast by a bonfire, accompanied by local folk songs.

At Singland, creative markets and restaurants featuring local ingredients provide a relaxing stop for dining and shopping. Yuanyi Garden showcases greenhouses filled with exotic flowers and winter displays, where guests can also make their own New Year wreaths to take home. The journey concludes at Donghe Jiugu Happy Farm, where visitors can explore rice culture, try pounding rice and making traditional Chongming glutinous rice balls, and experience the warmth of a "busy New Year" in the countryside.
