Stop 1: Chenshan Botanical Garden

Kick off your exploration in Songjiang at Chenshan Botanical Garden, where you can marvel at the serene beauty of the Victoria water lily. Known as the "giant" among aquatic flowering plants, it has large, round leaves that can span more than two meters in diameter.

The plant's unique blooming cycle is a spectacle: It produces a white flower that opens at dusk, turns pink on the second night, and sinks underwater by the third day.

Thanks to its robust leaf structure, the plant can support a child weighing up to 40 kilograms. Since 2011, the garden has held annual Victoria water lily-themed events, and this year it offers an experience that allows children to sit on the giant leaves.
