Peak autumn blooms draw visitors to TOP Central Park
Autumn magic is in full bloom at TOP Central Park in Shanghai's Putuo district this October. Its terraced fields have become one of the city's most photogenic spots, awash in spider flowers, delicate dianthus, and fluffy kochia shrubs.
The star attraction is a 3,000-square-meter sea of spider flowers. Tall stalks of pink and peach-red flowers rise in wispy, swaying spikes. Curved flower beds follow the land's natural slopes, unfurling like vibrant ribbons across the terraces.
Beneath them lie 1,200 sq m of dense Thunderbolt dianthus. These tiny blooms form delicate bands of color, creating striking vertical layers against the tall spider flowers. Wander along winding paths — snap close-ups or step back to capture the full layered view.
Round, cloud-like kochia shrubs are scattered throughout the terraces. As temperatures drop, they shift from pale green to warm red and burnt orange. One shrub can even display several shades at once.
Photographer Chen Fengzhi adores this scene: fluffy kochia orbs in the foreground, tall flower spikes rising behind them. Open spaces between the flower beds let sunlight stream through, casting a soft, dreamy glow for photos.
There are no designated entrances or marked photo spots, so follow the winding flower trails and explore freely.
