As a tribute to the English poet, playwright, and actor William Shakespeare, this production commemorates its 20th-anniversary celebration.
The play begins with a simple setup consisting of a table, two chairs, a portrait of Shakespeare, and an entire collection of his works. Graves, known for his profound understanding of Shakespearean literature, brings to life a narrative that weaves together the story of a young Graves and his encounter with the charismatic yet troubled headmaster at a British boarding school, where Shakespearean education was imparted with fervor and indulgence.
Graves immerses himself in the headmaster's world of Shakespeare which is full of love, passion, poetry, regret, and profound emotions during moments of confusion, innocence, shame, and determination. Graves' self-written, self-directed, and self-acted performance tells a beautiful, humorous, poignant and sincere story of inner turmoil, guilt, extreme love, and loss in a classic literary style, culminating in a journey towards reconciliation, acceptance, and the bittersweet embrace of memories.
