Black Myth: Wukong symphony concert comes to Shanghai

The much-anticipated Black Myth: Wukong symphony concert, a collaboration between Poly Performance and Game Science – developer of the global blockbuster video game Black Myth: Wukong – is set to make its debut at the North Bund AIA Grand Theatre on Sept 22.

Since its recent launch, Black Myth: Wukong has become an instant international entertainment phenomenon – a AAA-rated video game inspired by the ancient Chinese tale Journey to the West.

The concert will feature a selection of music from the Chinese-developed game, blending symphonic and traditional Chinese music to create an unprecedented epic adventure.

Attendees can look forward to immersive experiences such as animated shorts from the game, transporting them back to the fantastical world of oriental mythology filled with grandeur and wonders.

The music team of the concert includes Feng Ji, CEO of Game Science and the lyricist for the production; Li Jiaqi, sound designer, music producer and founder of 8082AUDIO who serves as the audio director for Black Myth: Wukong; Zhai Jinyan, a renowned composer and partner at 8082AUDIO, who is responsible for composing the score and songs for the game; Wang Xinghe, composer and operator of ASA WANG STUDIO, collaborating composer at 8082AUDIO who is involved in songwriting for the game, and Jin Fan, a young Chinese composer and music consultant at Poly Performance and music director for the Black Myth: Wukong symphony concert.

Performers are from the Tianjin Song & Dance Theatre Orchestra with Li Bowei as conductor.
