The acclaimed dance performance The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting is set to make its debut at the Nine Trees Future Art Center in Fengxian this October, offering audiences a captivating look at Eastern aesthetics.

Originally unveiled at the 2022 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting mesmerized viewers with its breathtaking group performances, quickly becoming a viral sensation. It has since toured over 70 cities worldwide, with more than 700 performances held across China.

The dance draws inspiration from the classic A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains, the only extant work by Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) painter Wang Ximeng. This iconic painting captures the majestic landscapes of China, with its rolling peaks and expansive rivers, exuding a sense of grandeur and splendor.

The dance unfolds in seven chapters, mirroring the creative process behind the painting. Audiences will embark on a journey with a young researcher from The Palace Museum, traveling back to the Northern Song Dynasty to explore Wang Ximeng's world.

They will witness the young artist's dedication and learn about the artisans who contributed to the masterful work, engaging in a transcendent dialogue with this genius of whom only scant records exist.

The dancers portray mountains and streams, embodying China's unique landscapes and ancient cosmological vision. This one-of-a-kind experience is not to be missed.
