Musical 'The Choir of Man' to make China debut
The acclaimed West End musical The Choir of Man will premiere in China from Sept 10 to Oct 19 at the JUCE Shanghai Centre Theatre on West Nanjing Road. Renowned for its unique setting, the musical transforms the stage into an Irish pub, offering a fresh take on traditional theater.
The production features nine performers who blend tap dance, a cappella singing, and instrumental performances on piano, guitar, and ukulele. The character Poet narrates the story, connecting the experiences of various pub patrons. Each character, with a unique background, shares their stories through beer and music, with their personalities unfolding through solos and interactions.
The musical showcases both original compositions and well-known hits, including Queen's Somebody to Love, Adele's Hello, and Guns N' Roses' Welcome to the Jungle.
The Shanghai performances will retain interactive elements from the international version, encouraging audiences to participate in impromptu segments. Attendees can sip beverages while enjoying this lively fusion of music, theater, and pub culture, all set against a vibrant party backdrop.
