Shanghai will soon welcome a theatrical masterpiece when Schaubuhne Berlin's acclaimed production of Richard III makes its Shanghai debut from Nov 7 to 9.

As one of William Shakespeare's earliest plays, Richard III portrays the turbulent reign of its title character, unfolding a gripping story of ambition, betrayal, and downfall. It explores the complexities of power and the darker facets of human nature.

Since its 2015 premiere, this theatrical production has toured the world, earning recognition as a contemporary classic of German theatre.

Following the success of Hamlet at the 2024 Autumn IS International Theatre Season in Shanghai, Schaubuhne Berlin returns for the 2025 season with this compelling adaptation of Shakespeare's work.

The production reunites one of the most influential German directors, Thomas Ostermeier, with celebrated actor Lars Eidinger, whose interpretations of Shakespearean roles have received international acclaim.
