The Russian State Ballet will present two timeless classics, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, at the Shanghai International Dance Center Theatre this April. Tickets are now available for purchase.

Swan Lake

Swan Lake, composed by the great Russian master Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, premiered at St. Petersburg's Mariinsky Theatre in 1895. It has since become one of the most frequently staged ballets in the world.

It tells a story of eternal love, betrayal, and the triumph of good over evil. Its poetic imagery has inspired generations of choreographers and dancers, securing its place as a cornerstone of Western classical ballet beloved by audiences worldwide.

The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker made its historic debut at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1892, choreographed by Marius Petipa based on German writer E.T.A. Hoffmann's tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. While versions may vary, its central theme remains constant: kindness overcomes malice, and true love prevails.

To this day, The Nutcracker continues to inspire creative exploration. Tchaikovsky's enchanting score offers rich material for interpretation, while imaginative staging brings its magical world to life, inviting audiences into a realm of wonder where goodness and love triumph.
