Award-winning Lebanese puppet show to be staged
The acclaimed Lebanese puppet show, One Thousand & One Roses, will be staged at Theatre Young in May. Winner of the Best Children's Play Award at the World Festival of Puppet Art in Prague, Czech Republic, this production tells the simple yet profound story of a rose seed growing into full bloom.
Visually inspired by masters such as Van Gogh, Monet, and Picasso, the performance brings impressionist art to life through an evocative interplay of light, shadow, puppets, masks, and live actors.
The sensory experience is further enriched by a distinctive soundtrack. Lebanese maestro Ahmad Kaabour's original Oriental melodies blend seamlessly with classical selections, as strings trace the movement of the wind and percussion echoes the rhythm of falling rain.
Each character is portrayed by intricately crafted puppets, animated by skilled puppeteers who imbue them with vitality, humor, and emotion. More than a children’s tale, the production offers adults a poetic meditation on patience, growth, and the quiet beauty of time.
