The 2026 Shanghai International Dance Center 10th anniversary season will present the highly anticipated dance production Querencia, coming in May, with tickets now on sale.

Querencia is choreographed by Antonio Najarro, former director of the Spanish National Ballet.

The production brings together a rich spectrum of Spanish dance forms, including bolero dance, stylized dance, folk dance, and flamenco. A cast of 14 elite dancers performs across 11 scenes, shifting between ensemble, duet, and solo sequences that interweave into layered visual rhythms on stage.

The original symphonic score is composed by pianist Moises Sanchez, blending classical structure with the rhythmic energy of traditional Spanish dance. Costume designer Yaiza Pinillos reimagines classic Spanish attire, including Cordoba hats, Manila shawls, Spanish capes, and the iconic flamenco train skirts with a fresh contemporary twist.

More than just a dance performance, Querencia offers an immersive journey through the soul of Spanish culture.
