Gewandhaus Children's Choir to perform in Shanghai this April
The Gewandhaus Children's Choir will perform at the Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre this April. As part of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, one of the world's oldest symphony orchestras, the choir has earned an international reputation with tours across Europe, North America, and Asia.
The ensemble has won multiple awards at international choral competitions and has performed at prestigious events, including the World of Children's Choirs in Vancouver.
The choir's recordings further highlight its artistic range, including the album Singt und Klingt!, produced in collaboration with other Gewandhaus choirs, and Ich bin Ich, a collaboration with German songwriter and singer Gerhard Schone.
For their Shanghai performance, the choir will present a program of nearly 30 pieces, blending traditional choral works with music from stage productions. The repertoire spans beloved film soundtracks such as Les Choristes and Chinese classics like Jasmine Flower, offering a rich, cross-cultural musical experience.
