Theatre Young released its 2026 autumn-winter season calendar on Sept 2. The season runs through February and features more than 30 productions with over 100 performances.

As the centerpiece of the season, the fourth Autumn IS International Theatre Season will present 11 productions with 37 performances from countries and regions including Brazil, France, Germany, Poland, and Singapore. Among them, 10 works will make their Shanghai or Asian premieres.

Highlights

Directed by Edward Lam, the updated version of the musical I Miss You, I Miss You Very Much will open the season and make its Chinese mainland premiere at Theatre Young.

The Schaubuehne Berlin returns to the Autumn IS season for the third time, bringing The Marriage of Maria Braun, directed by Thomas Ostermeier.

The Berliner Ensemble, led by director Oliver Reese, will present Sarah, adapted from the novel by Scott McClanahan of the United States.

Two new German companies will also join for the first time: Duesseldorfer Schauspielhaus and the post-dramatic theater group Gob Squad. They will present Dorian and Creation (Pictures for Dorian), respectively, both making their Asian premieres.

Actors' Family from Hong Kong will present the musical Pan Yu Lin, based on the life of Pan Yulin, China's first female Western-style painter.

Poland's JK Opole Theatre will stage Authentic, featuring top Polish mime artists.

Beyond the main stage productions, the Green Box theater will present a range of works including a Brazilian theater video and documentary exhibition, the debut solo piece Last Luncheon by Singaporean director Alvin Chiam, and Opus III, The Industrial Ruins by France's Theatre de la Massue.
