Experience charm of intangible cultural heritage in Jing'an
The Jing'an ICH Exhibition Hall on the third floor of the Jing'an District Culture Center has been upgraded, showcasing over 40 intangible heritage items.
As of December 2024, Jing'an district has a total of 48 representative intangible cultural heritage items in six main categories: traditional craftsmanship, traditional fine arts, traditional sports and acrobatics, traditional drama, folklore, and traditional Chinese medicine.

Among them, there are three national-level representative items. One of them is the "Lu'an Seal Ink Making Technique", located at the entrance of the reception room. Lu'an seal ink is considered a national treasure, created by master Zhang Lu'an (1901-62) and known for its vibrant colors, thin and even texture, delicate and high viscosity, resistance to heat and cold, and colorfastness.
In the traditional fine arts exhibition area, the reception room showcases seal engraving, fine engraving, bamboo carving, velvet carving, plaque carving, and dough sculpture. Particularly noteworthy is a hair engraving artwork, which was made using a form of fine engraving where characters are carved onto strands of hair, representing the highest level of skill and precision.

In addition to displaying tools used in making suits from different eras, the reception room also replicates the operating model of Hongsheng's front shop and back factory in the suit exhibition area. The fabrics and parchment paper on the background wall were specially designed and tailored by Xiao Wenhao, a representative practitioner of Hongsheng's tailoring skills.

From clothing to food, intangible cultural heritage is present everywhere in life. In the exhibition area for qipao, or cheongsam, exquisite qipao garments are on display.
