Huangpu district unveils top 2024 night economy activities

From October to December, Shanghai's Huangpu district held its annual selection of top night economy activities and nightlife destinations.

After a process involving online voting, expert reviews and comprehensive evaluations, eight standout night economy activities and a dozen premier nightlife destinations were announced.

Top night economy activities:

Yuyuan Garden Lantern Festival

Held from Jan 21 to Feb 25, this annual festival showcased mesmerizing light displays inspired by Shanhaijing or The Classic of Mountains and Seas, a cornerstone of Chinese mythology dating back over 2,000 years.

The 2025 edition will illuminate Shanghai starting on New Year's Day, celebrating the Year of the Snake and will continue until Feb 12.

Xiaohongshu Street Lifestyle Festival

Taking place from Aug 23 to Sept 1, this event has expanded significantly, featuring nearly 3,000 creators. Highlights included sunset music festivals, bustling markets and themed street activities across Huangpu district.

Shanghai's First Performing Arts-Themed Night Market by the Great World

This unique night market hosts over 100 weekly performances, blending immersive theater, music, comedy and pop culture events. Visitors can also enjoy gourmet food and handmade artisan products.

Sinan Yé

Located in the historic Sinan Mansions — a block of 51 garden houses built in the 1920s and 1930s — this event merges art and culture with vibrant night economy activities.

It has solidified its reputation as a signature weekend attraction.

Weekend Market @ BFC

Set against the backdrop of the Bund Finance Center, this whimsical market offers global cuisine, enchanting light installations and a fusion of Eastern and Western cultural elements for a festive atmosphere.

Celebrate New Year's Eve on Nanjing Road

From Jan 15 to Feb 25, this campaign combines festive shopping with themed displays, online-to-offline marketing campaigns and artistic installations.

For 2025, Nanjing Road has issued millions of yuan worth of promotional coupons to boost New Year shopping.

Rockbund Warm Winter Carnival

Visitors can savor German sausages, mulled wine and festive goods while enjoying carousel rides and handmade gifts at this cozy winter market.

Xintiandi Art Season

Under the theme of Art To Gather, the hip Xintiandi area hosted 26 immersive performances, seamlessly integrating classic operas and diverse musical genres into everyday settings.
