Get ready for the 7th Shanghai Shopping Festival
The seventh Shanghai Shopping Festival will launch on April 30, promising an exciting lineup of activities, including an opening ceremony, 21 key municipal events, and more than 100 market-led initiatives spread across 16 districts. Here are some highlights:
Integration of culture, commerce, tourism, sports, and exhibitions
The festival integrates diverse sectors to offer immersive citywide experiences:
- Starting April 30, a 31-day global livestreaming event will promote city initiatives such as "Shanghai Style" and "First in Shanghai", alongside a themed market in collaboration with the Shanghai International Flower Show.
- Time-honored brands like Bee & Flower will launch a pop-up amusement park and host Shanghai dialect talk shows to engage younger audiences.
- The Shanghai Night Festival will combine seven types of nighttime activities: shopping, dining, entertainment, reading, performances, fitness, and tours. Highlights include craft beer festivals, the Feast food carnival, and World Cup-themed markets in commercial areas.
- The Shanghai International Coffee Culture Festival will transform the North Bund into a 2.3-kilometer "happiness zone", hosting nearly 500 coffee-related activities with over 6,000 merchants.
- The city's year-long program "Global Taste in Shanghai" will highlight the Flavors of the Americas.
- The new "double gift" promotions for departure tax refund will offer added benefits for international visitors.
Additional notable events include the Shanghai International Cruise Festival, the 2026 Ping-Pong Carnival, and special activities for International Museum Day on May 18 and China Tourism Day on May 19.
Showcasing first launches and new products
Shanghai continues to strengthen its role as a global launchpad for new products and fashion:
- The Shanghai International Cosmetic Festival will partner with the British beauty season for the first time, featuring an immersive British garden and 27 brands from the United Kingdom introducing more than 30 new products in fragrance, makeup, skincare, and personal care.
- The Diamond and Gems Cultural Festival will spotlight the Shanghai International Jewelry Fashion Functional Zone, offering exclusive exhibitions, custom services, displays of intangible cultural heritage, and promotional events from industry leaders such as Lao Feng Xiang and Laomiao.
- The 2026 Made in Shanghai initiative will launch a national innovation competition for consumer brands, focusing on industrial matchmaking and the promotion of cutting-edge fashion goods.
Enhancing automotive and home-related services and offerings
Key initiatives will focus on the home and automotive sectors, with new products, subsidies, and interactive experiences:
- The Home Renewal Festival will feature over 50 brands such as Haier, Midea, Hisense, and Gree, launching more than 1,000 top-selling new products designed to transform living spaces.
- The Shanghai Auto Quality Consumption Carnival will combine automotive experiences with unique cross-over events such as pet-friendly activities, camping, and interactive racing experiences. Specialized theme exhibitions will further elevate the festival's offerings.
Expanding digital shopping and online experiences
Digital platforms will connect online and offline shopping experiences:
- The 2026 Shanghai Digital Shopping Festival will feature over 40 activities focused on cosmetics, digital gadgets, and home appliances, offering price reductions, installment plans, and flash sales. Large-denomination voucher packages and half-price coupons will be offered for dining and tourism services.
- The Shanghai Information Consumption Festival will feature artificial intelligence, large-scale metaverse spaces, ACGN (animation, comics, games, and novels), online games, and local lifestyle services through interactive exhibitions and limited-edition product collaborations.
Improving community and senior-friendly services
The festival will extend its benefits to residents of different age groups and communities:
- The Golden Years Festival will coordinate with the International Exhibition of Senior Care, Rehabilitation Medicine and Healthcare Shanghai 2026 to showcase "livable home" solutions and an exoskeleton experience area. A "Music for Seniors" street will provide a one-stop experience for dining, beauty, photography, and wellness services.
- The Shanghai Neighborhood Life Festival will offer a range of community-based services and promotions, spanning various business sectors.
- A dedicated shopping festival for Shigatse city in the Xizang autonomous region will also be held, bringing its specialty products to Shanghai.
