Hooray Water Fun Park

  • When: Through Aug 30
  • Where: LG Sunken Plaza, L+Mall, No 889 South Pudong Road, Pudong New Area

A water playground spanning more than 500 square meters has opened at L+Mall. Visitors can dive into a range of water games and challenges, including an obstacle course and water soccer. It also offers family-friendly activities such as a large bubble pool, fish-catching games, and water-gun battles.

Let's Play Well

  • When: Through Aug 24
  • Where: Taikoo Li Qiantan, No 500 Dongyu Road, Pudong New Area

The Let's Play Well summer campaign features a limited-time retro amusement park pop-up inspired by Bright Dairy's classic ice cream treats. The pop-up recreates a nostalgic, old-fashioned ice cream shop, complete with classic amusement rides and summer-themed displays. Visitors can also enjoy limited-edition Bright Dairy ice cream products at Taikoo Li Qiantan.

The shopping complex is also offering promotions tied to selected exhibitions and performances in Shanghai. Visitors with tickets to exhibitions such as Giorgio Morandi: Solo and Jean Nouvel: Without the Artist, Architecture Disappears at the Museum of Art Pudong, as well as A House of Nobility: Aesthetics and Cultivation of Life in the Mawangdui Han Tombs at the China Art Museum, can receive special offers at participating stores.

Summer in Rockbund

Rockbund is hosting a series of fitness activities throughout the second half of August, including partner yoga, tai chi, city jogging, Zumba, and electronic-music boxing sessions.

On Aug 22 and 23, Player, a local sports community, will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a special program. The event will feature a pop-up space, limited-edition merchandise, and cycling and running challenges on designated routes. Activities will run from 8 am to 10 am, with the pop-up open from 10 am to 6 pm.

On Aug 29, a neon-themed Zumba session will take place from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, featuring Brazilian music and neon lighting to create an energetic atmosphere. The following day, an electronic music boxing session will run from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, combining basic boxing movements with upbeat tracks.

A Cultural Journey: Where the Dala Horse Encounters Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage

  • When: Through Aug 31
  • Where: The Grand Halls, No 10 Beiwaitan Road, Hongkou district

Marking the Year of the Horse and celebrating the 76th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Sweden, this exhibition at Shanghai's North Bund features a 14-meter-tall Swedish Dala horse. Inspired by the traditional Chinese concept of the five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal, and water — the exhibition showcases 20 forms of Chinese intangible cultural heritage, highlighting stories of craftspeople and skills passed down through generations.

Digital guides, a cultural and creative market, shopping promotions, and sightseeing bus services offer additional ways to explore the exhibition and the surrounding area.

2026 Yangtze Estuary Summer Water Fun Season

  • When: Through Aug 31
  • Where: Along the Baoshan waterfront

This program features water sports, cultural experiences, nighttime entertainment, educational activities, and cruise travel along the Baoshan waterfront.

Highlights include a 1,000-sq-m water park with 10 activities designed to appeal to visitors of all ages. Family sessions run Monday through Thursday, while weekends bring a more competitive edge with various challenges.

As evening falls, visitors can enjoy a riverside beer festival featuring craft beer, live music, and film screenings. Summer performances are also scheduled at Shanghai Long Beach Concert Hall.

Families can take part in educational activities at Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, including a youth cruise experience aboard Adora Magic City. Cruise holiday options from Shanghai also include voyages aboard Spectrum of the Seas and MSC Splendida.

Coffee-themed market at Sun Moon Light Center

  • When: Through Aug 23
  • Where: No 1933 Hutai Road, Baoshan district

This market brings together independent coffee operators, specialty beans, creative coffee drinks, baked goods, and lifestyle products.

It offers visitors a chance to sample international flavors while discovering smaller local coffee brands.

Chinese tea ware through the ages

  • When: From June 23; long-term exhibition
  • Where: 2F, Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Arts Exposition, No 4788 Hutai Road, Baoshan district

The exhibition is organized into 14 thematic sections and traces the evolution of Chinese tea ware from ancient times to the present.

Its collection includes ancient pottery, gold and silver objects from the Liao Dynasty (916–1125), tinware, jade, bronze, enamel, lacquerware made from coconut shells, objects from the Xizang autonomous region, bamboo and wood utensils from Jiangnan, ivory carvings, and glassware.

The wide range of materials and forms reflects the evolution of tea ware as well as regional traditions and cultural exchange.

Weekend sunset party at Jinshan City Beach

  • When: Saturdays and Sundays through Aug 26, from 6 pm
  • Where: No 7555 Huhang Highway, Jinshan district

The weekend sunset program begins with a themed music show from 6 pm to 7 pm, followed by a group karaoke session from 7 pm to 7:30 pm. From 7:40 pm to 8:10 pm, visitors can watch a fire performance showcasing traditional techniques.

A notable highlight is huohu, or the fire-pot performance, a technique with a history of more than 150 years that is recognized as national-level intangible cultural heritage. Other traditional fire skills include the fire cube and flying fire meteors.
