Greenland implements Silk Road e-commerce plan
Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub, a permanent trading platform of the China International Import Expo, has recently implemented a development plan for Silk Road e-commerce cooperation.
The plan focuses on creating innovative sales platforms and models to boost imports of high-quality products from partner countries.
1. Establishing a country-specific livestreaming platform. The G-ONAIR livestreaming platform has been launched – hosting 20 live streams. Consular officials from Argentina, Colombia, and Slovakia have joined professional hosts to sell high-quality products such as Syrian olive soap, Afghan carpets, and Nepalese scarves.
2. Creating a Silk Road e-commerce market. A Silk Road e-commerce marketplace has been set up at Century Plaza on Nanjing Road, featuring 25 country-themed pavilions. It offers over 5,000 specialty products, with nearly 90 percent of them from BRI countries.
Products like Syrian rose oil, Mongolian cashmere scarves, Nepalese handmade embroidered scarves, and Pakistani salt lamps have become local favorites.
3. Operating overseas Silk Road e-commerce showrooms. In collaboration with Kazakhstan's IP Group, an exhibition center for Chinese products has been established in Astana. This center leverages IP Group's trade channels and supply chain network in Central Asia to promote the import of high-quality Chinese products – such as medical devices, electromechanical equipment, and consumer goods.
4. Organizing overseas Silk Road e-commerce delegations for major domestic exhibitions. The initiative has coordinated with over 120 businesses from 68 countries to attend 25 national and regional exhibitions in China, attracting 1.5 million visitors and securing 3 billion yuan ($420.69 million) in trade orders.
