In Shanghai, national pavilions boost Silk Road e-commerce
National pavilions representing different countries are currently performing an invaluable service in advancing Silk Road e-commerce from their base in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai.
Called Global Hub Silk Road E-commerce national pavilions, they're serving the establishment of the Pilot Zone for Silk Road E-commerce Cooperation in the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone.
They've been officially authorized and certified by the embassies and consulates of Silk Road e-commerce partner countries and relevant government agencies as a platform for showcasing and trading specialty products.
Moreover, the pavilions have become a high-level service platform promoting economic and trade investments with partner countries. As such, they're playing what's regarded as a key role as a crucial gateway for improving business cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and its international partners.
Three national pavilions have been established for Pakistan, Hungary and Uzbekistan. The pavilions are said to offer services including customs clearances and marketing and retail services – providing opportunities for Chinese products to find international partners.
The operator of the national pavilions has hosted a variety of special trade promotions events, such as a wine festival and promotions for specific countries, introducing an innovative consul-driven livestream sales model.
Both online and offline platforms showcase specialty products from countries such as Georgia, Armenia, Hungary, New Zealand, Chile and Pakistan – boosting the imports of high-quality goods and services.
Significant outcomes have included the Spanish pavilion, which has secured over 100 million yuan ($13.81 million) in supply deals with dealers like Tmall, JD.com and China Resources Vanguard.
Elsewhere, Syrian specialty products have attracted over 10 million yuan in potential investments, while Timor-Leste's coffee beans and civet coffee has won a single contract valued at $3.5 million.
