Shanghai expands high-end manufacturing trade in first 10 months
Shanghai's high-end manufacturing expanded and traditional industries showed stable performance in international trade during the first 10 months of 2024, according to a recent report from Shanghai Customs.
Statistics show that the city's total import and export value for the first 10 months of the year reached 3.52 trillion yuan ($485.82 billion), marking a 0.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Specifically, exports grew by 2.9 percent, while imports saw a decline of 1.6 percent.
The data highlights significant growth in high-end manufacturing, particularly in the shipbuilding sector, which saw an impressive increase of 81.4 percent.
Traditional advantageous industries, including electromechanical products and textile and plastic goods, maintained stable export growth.
