OSM Thome, a Norway-based ship management company, has set up its China headquarters in the North Bund of Shanghai's Hongkou district, marking a significant step forward in enhancing the district's ship management capabilities.
Managing about 950 vessels globally, OSM Thome ranks second in the world in terms of fleet size.
The company plans to leverage its expertise to expand collaborations with Chinese shipowners and shipyards, offering a range of specialized and diversified ship management services.
It will also support Chinese shipowners and shipyards in meeting international green shipping standards.
Additionally, it will help Chinese seafarers adapt to the operational demands of advanced vessels through professional training, enabling them to gain a competitive edge in the global shipping market.
Zhou Bin, general manager of OSM Thome China, noted that the company is committed to serving Chinese clients more efficiently, collaborating with Hongkou to drive innovation and high-quality development in the ship management industry, and contributing to the global maritime sector's green transformation.
To date, 15 out of the global top 50 liner companies have established headquarters, branches, or representative offices in Hongkou.
In January 2024, Hongkou launched the North Bund International Shipping Green Development Community.
