The first Shanghai Auto Carnival, along with the Green and Smart Auto Shanghai 2026, will be held concurrently from July 2 to 5 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), according to a promotion event held on Feb 3.

The Shanghai Auto Carnival will focus on automotive lifestyle and cross-sector collaborations, said Xu Jia, president of Shanghai International Exhibition (Group) Co Ltd.

The carnival promises to captivate participants with interactive experiences such as racing events, auto camping, and car owner markets, said Zhang Chen'an, general manager of Auto Shanghai Management Co Ltd.

"Over the next five years, increased competitiveness will define the global automotive industry, as automobiles transform from mere transportation tools to intelligent mobile terminals," Zhang said.

Meanwhile, the Green and Smart Auto expo will explore auto tech advancements and inter-sector applications and serve as a platform for ideas exchange and collaboration among industry players.

The GSA will present cutting-edge technologies in batteries, motors, electronic control systems, as well as intelligent connected vehicles.

SAC and GSA will complement the biennial Auto Shanghai show, adapting to the rapid emergence of new products, technologies, and business models in the auto sector, according to Gu Chunting, vice chairman of the Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai and chairman of Shanghai International Exhibition (Group).

Gu also noted the visa-free Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone, where the promotion event of the two new events was held, can facilitate cross-border trade.

According to Gu, the CCPIT Shanghai has already planned a number of high-end conferences, and intends to hold future exhibitions spanning 50,000 to 100,000 square meters to enhance cross-border trade through the business zone.
