Berliner Philharmoniker's Shanghai residency set for June
From June 24, the Berliner Philharmoniker, one of the greatest orchestras from Germany, led by chief conductor and artistic director Kirill Petrenko, will start a nearly 10-day tour in Shanghai.
In addition to presenting four symphony concerts and several chamber music performances, Berliner Philharmoniker will introduce a series of educational activities.

The program will mark the inaugural residency of Berliner Philharmoniker in China. The lineup boasts Grammy-winning pianist Wang Yujia and a luxurious configuration from the world-class symphony orchestra. The programming for the four symphony concerts has been tailored to provide discerning audiences with the ultimate classical music experience.
Tickets for the four concerts will be exclusively available for priority purchase on designated apps starting April 7. From April 8, tickets will be available to the public. Simultaneously, the official website of Berliner Philharmoniker will also commence ticket sales for the event. Spanning Beethoven to Wagner, Brahms, Strauss, Ravel, Mussorgsky, and Prokofiev, the "Berliner Philharmoniker 2024 in Shanghai" program will encompass classical and romantic repertoire alongside Russian music. Notably, at the inaugural symphony concert, the repertoire from the renowned open-air Berlin Waldbühne will be presented. Furthermore, this year marks Richard Strauss' 160th birthday. In homage to this great composer, his masterpiece Ein Heldenleben will be performed with emphasis.
