Shanghai Energy Conservation Week 2024, under the theme of "green transformation, energy-saving endeavors", commenced on May 13 at the Shanghai Garden Lane Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Industrial Park with a mission to propel the advancement of a green and low-carbon economy.

Hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, the event marked the launch of China's pioneering comprehensive industrial carbon management platform. This platform provides a wide array of services for carbon quantification and data management, encompassing carbon calculation, declaration, database construction, efficiency evaluation, carbon finance, ESG, and certification. Enterprises can seamlessly apply for, calculate, generate reports, undergo third-party verification, and certify their carbon footprints through this all-in-one management service.

The launch ceremony also shined a spotlight on the 2024 Shanghai top 10 green and low-carbon technologies, selected through public solicitation by the commission. Innovations such as Firmli's solid-state lithium battery, EQuota's AI-based low-carbon optimization system, and Direct Capture Carbon Technology's low-energy direct air carbon capture were prominently featured during the ceremony, showcasing cutting-edge solutions in the realm of sustainability.

Moreover, strategic cooperation agreements aimed at fostering green and low-carbon development were inked at the launch ceremony. Noteworthy initiatives include the establishment of a smart manufacturing base for photovoltaic storage in Songjiang district and the creation of a headquarters in Hongkou district to drive the promotion of electric shipping.

Over the following week, a total of 427 themed activities are slated to unfold citywide, ranging from a knowledge competition on green and low-carbon development dubbed the "Shenergy Carbon Technology Cup" to energy-saving travel contests, recycling campaigns, and an array of educational endeavors, which collectively underscore Shanghai's commitment to sustainability, innovation, and collaborative efforts towards a greener future.
