The 2024 Shanghai Science Festival, themed "science and technology make life better", commenced on May 18 at the Zhangjiang Science Hall in Pudong New Area. The event served as a magnet for the scientific community, attracting individuals of all ages eager to explore the wonders of innovation and technology.

The opening ceremony, distinguished by a captivating metaverse-themed red carpet, was graced by esteemed figures including Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng, renowned Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, and the promising young talent and recipient of the "Science and Technology Stars of Tomorrow" award, Dou Yifan.

Scheduled to run until the end of the month, the festival features an impressive lineup of approximately 2,000 themed activities that are set to unfold across various science innovation bases, science popularization sites, and youth science innovation workstations scattered throughout the city. These activities aim to spark curiosity, foster innovation, and promote a deeper understanding of the role of science and technology in shaping a brighter future for society.
