Shanghai is gearing up to host the 2024 Shanghai Future Star Cup, a youth football tournament that will bring together eight top international youth training teams. It will take place at the Shanghai Pudong Football Stadium and the Yuanshen Sports Center Stadium from Aug 12 to 18, promising a week of thrilling matches and fierce competition.

The stage was set for the upcoming football spectacle during a grand press conference and draw ceremony held at the historic Merchant Shipping Hall in Shanghai's Huangpu district on May 29.

Since its inception in 2022, the Shanghai Future Star Cup has been dedicated to nurturing young football talent and establishing itself as a premier event in the world of youth football. With each passing year, the tournament has grown in scale and prominence, drawing increased attention and participation from renowned foreign clubs.

This summer, team Shanghai will play host to seven teams hailing from Asia, Europe, and South America. The lineup features La Liga champions Real Madrid, Serie A champions Inter Milan, Bundesliga runner-up Stuttgart, Eredivisie runner-up and KNVB Cup champion Feyenoord, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A's Flamengo, Serbian Superliga's Belgrade Guerrilla, and the reigning champion League 1's Ulsan HD.

In addition to the thrilling matches on the field, the organizing committee has curated a series of engaging activities for the participating teams, the highlight of which is the chance to witness intense Chinese Super League cross-city derby between Shanghai Shenhua Football Club and Shanghai Port Football Club.

The eight participating teams have been divided into two groups for the initial stage of the tournament. Group A comprises Ulsan HD, Stuttgart, Feyenoord, and Flamengo, while Group B features Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Belgrade Guerrilla, and host team Shanghai. The teams will compete in a single round-robin format within their groups, followed by cross-elimination rounds based on group rankings to determine the eventual champions.
