Shanghai has launched a citywide initiative aimed at promoting reading among children during the Municipal Government's open month. As part of this endeavor, Shanghai plans to establish 100 new child-friendly reading spaces across the city, fostering a love for literature and learning among the younger generation.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, will showcase a diverse array of reading activities featuring works by esteemed domestic and foreign authors. In addition to literary exploration, these activities will include lectures on popular science and engaging workshops designed to stimulate young minds and spark curiosity.

As of the end of June, a total of 95 new reading spaces have already been constructed throughout Shanghai. These spaces have been strategically located to maximize accessibility for children and their families, aiming to create welcoming environments that encourage a lifelong passion for reading.

The newly established reading spaces will leverage their prime locations to host a variety of themed reading activities tailored to meet the needs and interests of children. From interactive storytelling sessions to book clubs and educational workshops, these spaces will serve as dynamic hubs for literary engagement and intellectual growth.
