Shanghai celebrates 2024 National Fitness Day

Shanghai kicked off the 2024 National Fitness Day with a grand launch ceremony at Vanke Plaza in Xuhui district on Aug 8.
Focusing on national fitness and the Olympics, the event is set to provide residents and visitors alike with the unique opportunity to get involved in the sports community, learn about health and wellness, and celebrate the spirit of fitness and well-being.
Responding to the call of the General Administration of Sport of China, Shanghai has embraced the national fitness strategy by organizing a series of activities that showcase the city's charm and vitality.
The event was hosted by the Shanghai Administration of Sports, Shanghai Sports Federation, and the Xuhui district government, highlighting the city's commitment to promoting sports and physical well-being.
From offering expert sports advice to engaging in fun parent-child interactions, the event catered to a wide range of interests, aiming to immerse visitors in the diverse culture and history of sports.
According to the Shanghai Community Sports Association, the city plans to hold nearly 300 public welfare courses and provide around 4,000 free experience opportunities to residents over the seven-day period starting Aug 8. Additionally, 31 municipal individual sport associations and 149 social sport program instructors were on hand to offer scientific fitness guidance for more than 40 sports.
