The 2024 Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges, hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, will kick off in Shanghai on Sept 3.

The theme of the forum is "Revitalizing Global Partnership for Sustainable Development". Forty-nine legislators, including former legislators, from 43 countries and regions across five continents have been invited to attend the forum.

During the forum, Chinese and international attendees will engage in discussions on topics such as global development and economic recovery, global security and lasting peace, inclusiveness and cultural diversity, high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and global sustainable development partnerships, social equity and common prosperity, democracy and the rule of law, climate change and environmental protection, and poverty eradication and sustainable development. Additionally, a China-Europe legislator exchange meeting will be held.

Before the forum, international legislators visited several key sites to gain firsthand insights into the Chinese modernization in Shanghai. The sites visited include the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Shanghai Tower, SAIC Motor's Lin-gang factory, COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co Ltd, Jiangnan Shipyard, Shanghai Chongming Dongtan Bird National Nature Reserve, and the Sino-Dutch Agricultural Innovation Park.
