Shanghai International Advertising Festival held in Putuo district
The 2024 Shanghai International Advertising Festival took place at the Banma Suhe International Convention Center in Putuo district on Aug 29.
The festival, themed around intelligence and new quality, was structured into four main sections: conferences, exhibitions, competitions, and festivals. Industry experts and business leaders from nearly 20 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, and France discussed the digitization of "creativity + technology" and showcased leading digital advertising developments and new trends.
At the opening ceremony, the Shanghai Municipal Administration for Market Regulation released its 2023 white paper on the city's advertising industry and announced the 2024 high-quality development innovation cases for the digital advertising industry, underscoring Shanghai's progress in becoming the "International Capital of Digital Advertising".
In 2023, revenue for advertising enterprises and institutions above the designated size in Shanghai reached a record high of 294.59 billion yuan ($41.45 billion), marking a 23.7 percent year-on-year increase and accounting for approximately one-quarter of the national total, as reported in the white paper.
The Shanghai Advertising Association awarded digital advertising certification trademarks to 15 Shanghai-based companies at the Aug 29 festival, facilitating the digital transformation of Shanghai's advertising industry.
In addition, agreements were signed at the event with the UKAEG and the Advertising Association of Thailand, laying the foundation for advertising companies from the UK and Thailand to enter the Chinese market.
