Liantang town, nestled in Shanghai's Qingpu district, is hosting the 2024 Liantang Jiaobai Festival and Ancient Town Cultural Tourism Festival, which will last through Oct 7.

Renowned for its intricate network of waterways and lush landscapes, Liantang takes pride in its signature produce, jiaobai — a delectable water-grown vegetable cherished for its sweet and crisp flavor profile harvested around this season of the year.

The festival is set to offer a multifaceted experience across four distinct segments: combining fun with shopping, immersion in nature, trendy national style, and art appreciation. Attendees can participate in activities like dining, accommodation, travel, shopping, entertainment, and cultural exploration, all thoughtfully curated to emphasize quality, innovation, and contemporary allure.

The festival unfolds across two primary venues: the Art-M Cultural and Creative Industry Park and the rural community center in Dongshe village. Art-M promises immersive cultural encounters such as pottery workshops, woodcraft demonstrations, baking sessions, as well as engaging exhibitions and events designed to captivate visitors.

Meanwhile, Dongshe village, renowned for its Jiangnan architectural aesthetics, will serve as a hub for experiential activities like research excursions, hands-on agricultural engagements, and social gatherings, offering a glimpse into the region's rich heritage and rural way of life.

Attendees can also relish the charm of a rural market, peruse treasures at a charity flea market, and partake in harvest-themed festivities.

Moreover, the festival's lineup includes an array of captivating competitions and exhibitions, such as a calligraphy and painting contest, a public square dance competition, and an exhibition highlighting intangible cultural heritage through the art of cloth-making.
